The starting lineup for Rangers’ matchup with St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday, January 27, has been confirmed.
Four changes have been made by manager Philippe Clement from the team that defeated Hibernian 3-0 on Wednesday, January 24.
Jack Butland, the goalkeeper, and John Souttar, the central defender, stay in their positions after the clean sheet at Easter Road. Connor Goldson replaces Leon Balogun in the first change.
Captain James Tavernier is selected again at right-back, while Ridvan Yilmaz, who is linked to the exit, is selected again at left-back. Clement has again selected Nico Raskin and John Lundstram to play in midfield.
Todd Cantwell maintains his spot in the attack, but Scott Wright and Dujon Sterling replace Ross McCausland and Rabbi Matondo. Cyriel Dessers takes Fabio Silva’s place up front.
It is another very important match for Clement and his players, who will be keen to continue their strong run against St Mirren.
The two clubs have already met twice in the Scottish Premiership this season, with Rangers coming out on top on both occasions.
The Gers won 3-0 at St Mirren back in October, before bagging two more goals and another clean sheet in the Ibrox clash in December.
However, Clement will be looking forward rather than backwards, as all eyes will be on the Paisley encounter as the visitors attempt to maintain pressure on league leaders Celtic.
Rangers, who have a game in hand, are now five points behind the Bhoys in second place in the Scottish Premiership standings, with 54 points.
Although Clement’s team appears to be performing well, Brendan Rodgers’s team is also performing well and does not appear to be faltering anytime soon.
With the four modifications, Clement might opt to go from a 4-2-3-1 to a 4-3-3 system, bringing Sterling into midfield in place of Lundstram and Raskin.
A BBC Sport reporter was astounded by a “stunning” moment from the Rangers Man of the Match versus Hibs, in other Rangers news.
