Rangers attempted to reduce the lead at the top of the league to just two points this afternoon in Paisley against a tenacious St Mirren team.

This season, the manager of the Giants has been able to keep his squad together and show depth that hasn’t been seen too often from week to week.

Here are your player ratings for Rangers versus St Mirren as they attempt to keep up their momentum.

Player rankings for Rangers vs. St. Mirren

Jack Butland, age nine

Typical excellent saves to hold the score at 1-0 as the first-choice for Rangers endured challenging circumstances in the opening half.

Without him, we lose ground today.

James Tavernier, number six

struggled to make an impression on the game, and the bad weather contributed to the overall low quality.

Was wasteful with a couple of attempts at goal.

Ridvan Yilmaz – 6

Good early run inside saw a goal bound effort deflect safely into the keeper’s hands.

Was he given a farewell send off?

Connor Goldson – 6

A slow start for the vice-captain who was caught in possession and gave away a couple of dangerous free-kicks.

John Souttar – 7

positioned himself perfectly to block a number of St. Mirren’s risky crosses.

Lundstram John – 8

Cyriel Dessers received an assist from another inch-perfect pass; it is evident that he can play these balls and that Clement has given him the confidence to do so.

Six Nicolas Raskin

Although he was always full of enthusiasm and ran fast, he struggled to get a foothold on the ball, as did the other 19 outfield players.
