Godfrey has been the subject of intense speculation throughout the month, having fallen down the pecking order at Goodison Park under Sean Dyche.

The defender has made just two Premier League appearances so far this campaign, with his last outing coming on 16 December in a 2-0 win over Burnley.

Godfrey was set to sign for Italian side Atalanta, but a deal broke down in the final stages due to Italy’s tax break abolishment.

Ben Godfrey transfer latest

Throughout the January transfer window, Leeds has been looking to bolster their defense, which has led to several players being linked to moves to Elland Road.

However, Daniel Farke of the Yorkshire team is eager to bolster before the deadline of February 1st, and the team is prepared to launch a serious campaign for Godfrey.

Many Premier League teams, notably Sheffield United, have expressed interest in Godfrey as well, but the Blades and the Merseyside club have not yet reached any sort of agreement.

Nottingham Forest and Luton Town have also been mentioned as potential destinations for the centre-back.

Having worked with Godfrey at Norwich City, Farke is well acquainted with him. In an effort to resume playing more frequently, Godfrey, the Everton player, might be eager for a reunion.

After the Norfolk team was relegated to the Championship in the summer of 2020, he moved from Carrow Road to the Toffees.

Despite his four seasons at Goodison Park, Dyche has not included him much in the Everton lineup.
