CELTIC MISFIT IN TRANSFER TUG-OF-WAR
Unfit CELTIC As he makes his way to the Parkhead exit, Yuki Kobayashi is coveted by TWO MLS teams.
The Japanese central defender, whose contract with J-League team Vissel Kobe was about to expire, signed as a free agent a year ago.
After signing a five-year contract with the winners, Kobayashi hasn’t played for the first team this year. With the American transfer market set to open on Wednesday, Real Salt Lake and FC Dallas are reportedly interested in signing him.
The left-sided back-four operator, 23, made five appearances under former manager Ange Postecoglou. Brendan Rodgers, the boss of the MLS pair that is wanting to take him on loan, is not going to stand in the way of the player. This was reported in the Scottish Sun.
After the title was assured, Kobayashi was dropped from the starting lineup following a 4-2 loss to Hibs at Easter Road in May. This was followed by a terrible performance in a 3-0 loss at Ibrox.
He is among several peripheral players who may be heading for the exit, with Mikey Johnston being of interest to Championship side West Brom.
