Rangers target left out of squad as report says he’s agreed move to Ibrox

Rangers target left out of squad as report says he’s agreed move to Ibrox.

It appears that January acquisition number three will arrive on the same day that Rangers formally announced the signing of former FC Nordsjaelland midfielder Mohamed Diomande.

Rangers and Fluminense have reached an agreement for Glasgow to host the highly regarded Jefte, according to Fabrizio Romano’s report on X. With his contract signing in the summer of 2027, the talented 20-year-old ends the club’s search for a new left-sided full-back.

Jefte is currently on loan at APOEL in Cyprus. He was supposed to stay there for until the summer too. According to Cypriot publication Balla, however, the talented, dead-ball specialist has suddenly been left out of the squad for Friday night’s clash with Neo Salamina, with that impending switch to Rangers the reason for his absence.

Rangers agree deal with Fluminense for Jefte

Jefte is an attacking full-back who has made 20 appearances for the Nicosia-based team, scoring seven goals and dishing out assists. Whether his entry, in the footsteps of Diomande and Fabio Silva, will allow Ridvan Yilmaz to leave, is still to be determined. There are still rumors circulating about the former Besiktas player going back to Turkey.

The team that has been linked to Yilmaz the most, Galatasaray, stated this week through head coach Okan Buruk that acquiring a left-back is the “priority” in front of the last two weeks of the Super Lig transfer window.

Brazilian starlet could replace Ridvan Yilmaz

“I believe that he still has hope for the future. Ibrox legend Neil McCann told BBC SportScene, “I’d find it strange if they don’t get a replacement, then Ridvan Yilmaz would walk out the door.” The 22-year-old started the scoring in the 3-0 midweek victory over Hibernian.

Jefte’s apparent impending arrival, therefore, should allay McCann’s worries that the Rangers would be perilously short on options on the flank.

“I believe that Yilmaz, the boy, may be seeking a change due to his lack of use. I believe he has had trouble staying injury-free and consistent,” McCann continues.

“If the opportunity comes for the boy to go back to Turkey, which is the suggestion with Galatasaray, I think he’ll take it.”
