Rangers signing agreed barring final hurdle, why Celtic wont spend £20m, Ryan Porteous to Serie A – rumour mill.
Before finalizing the purchase of FC Nordsjaelland midfielder Mohamed Diomande, Rangers must overcome one last obstacle.
Sky Sports reports that the transaction is “fully agreed,” and the Diomande is simply awaiting the issuance of a work permit before traveling to
Glasgow to finalize the transfer. The Ivory Coast Under-23 international, who has played more than 100 games for the Norwegian team, including in
Europe, is reportedly going to cost Rangers £4.3 million. With Fabio Silva having already joined on loan from Wolves, Diomande will be Rangers’ second new signing of the January window.
Why Celtic wont spend £20m
in the unlikely event that Rapid Vienna’s £3 million acquisition of winger Nicolas Kuhn is the only new arrival.
In an effort to attract top players, Rodgers also clarified why Celtic does not spend £20 million on a single acquisition.
“The money’s there but that won’t happen,” he added. “If you’re bringing in a £20m player then you’re taking a £20m player’s wages.
That doesn’t work here sadly. We’re not in that ballpark. I think that’s realistic [£6-7m]. Look before when they signed [Cameron] Carter-Vickers or Jota. The evidence is there that they do that.
Ryan Porteous to Serie A
Ryan Porteous, a defender for Scotland, has been connected to a transfer to Udinese. Sky Sports reports that the Serie A team is thinking about
acquiring the 24-year-old center back from Watford, a sister club. Porteous reportedly paid around £450,000 to join the Hornets from Hibs last
season. Because of the sell-on clause that was added to his contract, Hibs would be entitled to 20% of any transfer.
