There are worries that the Hoops might stop adding new players.

On the transfer front, Celtic has seen some quietness. Brendan Rodgers even hinted that there might not be any further arrivals.

This month, the Hoops have added winger Nicolas Kuhn from Rapid Vienna, despite the manager’s insistence that he required four quality players to improve his squad—a number of whom are away at the Asian Cup on international duty. The Northern Irishman stated yesterday that he would feel at ease carrying on with the players he has available with less than a week to go.

That’s led Stephen McGinn to question why he’s backtracked in that manner. He said: “If Brendan Rodgers had said what he’d said in this week’s interview back in November, which was ‘we’ll only add in January if the quality is available’.
The club has previously employed that line, explaining poor performances and outcomes by claiming they would bring quality to the market. “That was almost the message. Even the win at St Johnstone, the draw at home against Motherwell…that was a message. The reason he was being questioned about quality was because it was occurring so frequently, but the message was ‘just be patient, we’ll improve.'”
“All of a sudden you get to January and the manager’s message has changed. That’s when the fans get frustrated because they say ‘you’ve told us two months ago we need to add quality or else the results [will suffer]. If that same set of results happens again it could cost them the league.
“So what has altered? Has the manager been informed that he could increase quality only to be informed that he cannot? What has altered?
The Celtics fans are perplexed because of this. They’re looking at their own shortcomings in terms of who will play left back as they watch the team across town bring in new players. Liam Scales is enjoying a fantastic season at center defense; is he going to be asked to cover for Alexandro Bernabei, who has demonstrated he is incapable of playing left back for Celtic?

“What would happen if Kyogo is injured or suspended and Oh and Maeda both make it to the Asian Cup final? They’re getting irritated since the squad doesn’t have a recognized first-team striker.”

It’s possible that there may be departures from Celtic before the window closes and that Yuki Kobayashi will pique their attention. Real Salt Lake and FC Dallas, two MLS teams, are apparently eager to sign a loan agreement.

Marco Tilio, Gustaf Lagerbielke, and Mikey Johnston are all being considered.
