It’s Done’ – Report: Rangers loan-to-buy agreement now in place for next January Ibrox News

Rangers loan-to-buy agreement now in place to sign Mohamed Diomande as multi-million terms emerge.

According to Farzam Abolhosseini, Rangers have reached an agreement to sign Mohamed Diomande from FC Nordsjaelland on a loan to buy basis during the January transfer window.

The Danish daily B.T. journalist tweeted on Friday, January 26, that the 22-year-old midfield player will be loaned to the Gers until the end of the season, with a £4.6 million contract in place to sign him permanently.

In another tweet, he stated that the agreement was now “done,” making the Ivory Coast U-23 international the second player the Light Blues signed this window.

“FC Nordsjaelland has sold midfielder star Mohamed Diomande to Rangers FC,” said Abolhosseini. “The Scottish big club has rented him out in the spring with a purchase bond for the summer of DKK 40million (£4.6million).

Makes sense

This is the first time that a loan agreement has been made public; earlier, it was believed that Diomande would make the transfer permanent right away.

However, waiting as long as possible before forking over the full amount makes sense, as the Rangers are probably a touch tight on cash after their summer buying binge.

The fact that Philippe Clement now has an additional midfield alternative is crucial because the Gers have been lacking in that area this season.

Given Kieran Dowell’s recent injury, a new addition was almost definitely required, and the Ivorian will now be trying to step up and establish a consistent spot in the starting lineup.

The midfielder might be crucial to the Light Blues’ chances of winning additional trophies at Ibrox as they look to challenge on three fronts in the second half of the season.
