Galatasaray manager in phone call with Ridvan Yilmaz, Rangers left-back now wants Ibrox loan exit as option-to-buy decision made

Okan Buruk has held a direct phone call with Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz about making a loan switch to Galatasaray in the January transfer window, according to Fotomac.

The Turkish newspaper reported on its website on Friday (26 January) that the 22-year-old left-back was “positive” in his talks with the Super Lig club’s boss about making a temporary move back to Istanbul. But it added that the Turkish international doesn’t want an option-to-buy clause to be included in the deal despite appearing to be looking for a way out of Ibrox this month.

Out of order

If this latest report is to be believed that Yilmaz has already held talks with Buruk, then that is completely out of order given that no agreement has been reached with Rangers. It’s not right from the player’s perspective as it shows a lack of respect to his employer, but there’s also no professionalism whatsoever being shown by Galatasaray.

The Gers have made their stance clear that they must receive money for the defender if he is to be allowed to leave Ibrox during this transfer window.Given that he’s worked his way into the Philippe Clement’s starting lineup in recent weeks and has a contract up until 2027, there’s no way the club should be even considering a straight loan deal. The situation is likely to continue right up until the deadline, but the Light Blues must stand firm because he’s their player and he shouldn’t be allowed to leave without it being right for the club.
