Snoop Dogg Says It’s Time For Jeanie Buss And The Lakers To “Move Some Furniture” Amid 22-23 Start

The venerable Snoop Dogg addressed the Lakers and their longstanding owner, Jeanie Buss, directly during an appearance on the podcast “All the Smoke.” Snoop stated it’s time to bring in some younger players to stay up with the growing competitiveness in the West, with the team now sitting in ninth position in the standings.

“We gonna have to move some furniture,” said Snoop. “We gonna have to move some furniture real fast. Some big pieces of furniture if you know what I mean. We need to move some furniture around and put some dogs on the court because any time a young team comes to town, we freeze up. We can handle the old dogs but when them young goons come to town… c’mon Jeanie, what are we built on? Get us some young guns out there.”

This season, the Lakers have been beset by problems ranging from injuries to misfortune to dubious head coach rotations. However, it’s evident that Snoop Dog is correct when he says the Lakers need to make some changes, given they are only.500 on the season going into February. The LeBron James era is running out of time, and the current squad will just not be sufficient to compete with the Western elites.

Difficult Times in Los Angeles
The Lakers entered this season with strong aspirations of winning their 18th championship after making an anticipated run to the Conference Finals the previous spring. However, following a brilliant beginning that included winning the in-season competition, the Lakers have struggled and are currently ranked ninth in the Western Conference. The supporting cast that carried the Lakers to victory in the previous season is simply not clicking this year, for whatever reason, and it may push Rob Pelinka to make a decision before the deadline in February.

Similar to Snoop, a lot of supporters and analysts are calling on the Lakers to use the trade market as leverage and help LeBron James make the most of his remaining basketball career. Even while it might seem too late to salvage this season, keep in mind what the Lakers accomplished even after their even poorer start the previous season.

Lakers Are Taking Action
It is highly likely that the Lakers will be part of a trade before the deadline in February. Everybody is fair game to be included in a deal by the Lakers, with the exception of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Austin Reaves. The Lakers, a team with an offensive rating in the bottom 10, require more shooters and shot makers on the court to lessen LeBron James’ load and contribute to more baskets on the offensive end.

The players that have made the most impressions thus far are outstanding, high-scoring guards like Zach LaVine, Trae Young, and Dejounte Murray. They are also keeping an eye on Nets veteran Spencer Dinwiddie and former Nuggets swingman Bruce Brown. It is certain that the Lakers are committed to making a trade in order to salvage their season, but it is unclear whether any transaction will be sufficient to give them an advantage over rivals like the Minnesota Timberwolves, Thunder, or Nuggets.
