Pundit pinpoints how Chelsea can ‘save their season’ ahead of FA Cup clash with Aston Villa.

It is no secret at this point – the 2023/24 season is swiftly unravelling into yet another tricky campaign for Chelsea.

However, there is still plenty of time left – while they are miles away from a title challenge, the Blues are still in with a chance of winning one of

England’s domestic cups this season.

Chris Sutton, a pundit for BBC Sport, thinks Chelsea might save their season if they win the FA Cup and the League Cup.

They defeated Middlesbrough 6-2 on aggregate to advance to the League Cup final, where they will take on Liverpool at Wembley Stadium later this

month.

Meanwhile, the Blues are preparing for their matchup with Aston Villa in the FA Cup’s fourth round.

Chelsea will ‘edge’ the match, according to Sutton, 2-1, despite the fact that the Villans won their previous meeting between the two teams this season.

How did Chris Sutton say that Chelsea could save their season?

On BBC Sport’s FA Cup predictions piece, Sutton wrote: “The cups offer a way for Chelsea to save their season, and they are already in the final of the

Carabao Cup after beating Middlesbrough. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been getting better, it’s just not the momentous rise we expected.

Chelsea cannot afford to play this game half-heartedly, but Aston Villa may be considering the top four and their matchup with Newcastle on Tuesday.

Villa has been fantastic this season, so I’d love to see them really go for it in the FA Cup as well, but I’m not sure how Unai Emery will handle it.

Despite the fact that I have already been mistaken several times this season, all of this is leading me to believe that Chelsea will win.”
