Philippe Clement explains Rangers half-time double substitution amid injury fears

Philippe Clement explains Rangers half-time double substitution amid injury fears.

Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin were both substituted off in the victory over the Hibs, according to Philippe Clement.

Prior to the goal, Todd Cantwell seemed to have injured his groin. This was Rangers’ second goal of the match.

Even more unexpected was Nicolas Raskin’s halftime substitution—the midfielder had just recently made his way back to the starting lineup following an extended absence.

When questioned about the two players’ injuries at full time, Philippe Clement stated that the substitutions were merely a precaution.

The manager of Rangers is obviously unwilling to take any more chances as the team prepares for a demanding two-game schedule.

After the team won 3-0, Clement said to the press, “It’s too fast to assess that.” But things seem to be going OK for the time being.

“Hopefully tomorrow will be the same. Then he established a very good objective, but I wasn’t willing to take a chance on stuff like that.

The same was true for Nico (Raskin); his foot was dozing. We removed the tape since we felt it was the source, but the feeling persisted.

“You cannot play one foot at a time, which is why I already made the two changes at halftime.”

Rangers injury precaution

Injuries have plagued Rangers all season long with the club set to be without five first teamers for the foreseeable future.

Ben Davies, Kieran Dowell, Abdallah Sima, Danilo, and Kemar Roofe are now out, meaning that almost £20 million worth of skill isn’t being used.

The squad values Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin highly, so their continued absences would increase the load on injuries.

Supporters will be hoping that Clement’s precautionary move to hook both players pays off as Rangers attempt to mount a three-front challenge.

These are the five things we discovered after defeating Hibs.
