The Atlanta Falcons officially selected a new head coach on Thursday afternoon, and in spite of all
the rumours and conjecture, it was not the renowned Bill Belichick. This made for an entertaining
afternoon. Raheem Morris, the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams, was selected by
Atlanta.
Eight NFL teams, or a fourth of the league, were officially searching for new head coaches as the
offseason cycle got underway. Six of them have filled their posts with just a few sleeps remaining
before Sunday’s Conference Championship game.
The Washington Commanders and Seattle Seahawks are the two teams that are currently still
searching. We will formally learn the identities of all the new head coaches Dallas will take on in
2024 after the former selects a head coach (see their opponent list here). For now, we are aware
that the Cowboys will travel to take on the Falcons of Morris and the Panthers of Canales.
However, the Commanders are currently in need of a new head coach, and Dallas will visit and host
one next season. Similar to Seattle (which is a strange way of putting it), Washington is significant
in terms of the Cowboys staff since defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has asked to be interviewed
again. On Thursday, Seattle had their second interview with him.
