Rangers transfer news: Boca Juniors striker Luca Langoni agent issues January update
Carlos Censi, the agent of Boca Juniors striker Luca Langoni, has provided an update about rumors of a January transfer to Rangers.
With 10 goals in 45 games this season, the Argentine is “highly-rated” at Boca, according to The Daily Record, who also disclosed the player’s connections to Ibrox.
This month, Gers signed Fabio Silva on a loan from Wolves, although they are reportedly interested in another attacker.
Censi stated on DSports Radio, “Luca is happy; he removed the injury backpack with the parties at the end of last year.”
He is with everything this year. No proposals came from Europe. Just a few questionnaires and methods. Our minds are in Boca.
Physically, technically, and emotionally, Luca must continue to accrue minutes in the First Division this year.
Move on
Rangers should exercise caution in pursuing Langoni as a move may not be prudent at this time.
Firstly, while the 21-year-old has been linked to Rangers amid their quest for another striker, his goal-scoring record of 10 goals in 45 games this season with Boca Juniors is not particularly impressive.
This suggests a potential inconsistency in finding the back of the net, a quality crucial for a team challenging for titles.
Furthermore, given that the Argentine is only 21 years old, it is unclear if he is ready to take on the demands of regularly scoring goals every week, particularly in a league as competitive as the SPFL.
It is imperative that Rangers carefully consider whether Langoni is the best fit for their long-term goals and present
demands, as there have been few substantial European bids and few surveys and inquiries.
He is comparable to Silva in many aspects; he is a young striker with promise but no track record, therefore they would be
better suited looking at alternatives like Lawrence Shankland.
