REPORT: Dallas Cowboys Defensive Coordinator, Dan Quinn, Gets Further Head Coaching Buzz After 2 More In-Person Interviews Scheduled For This Week

For the last two years, Dan Quinn has been one of the most sought-after head coaches in football. And with good cause.

Quinn has not only helped the Dallas Cowboys record consecutive 12-win seasons—despite the fact that this hasn’t

translated into postseason success—but he has also transformed America’s team’s defence into one of the greatest in

the league, working with stars like Trevon Diggs, DaRon Bland, and Micah Parsons.

Under the guidance of the former head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, the Dallas defence has improved annually; from

2021 to 2023, it ranked 19th, 12th, and fifth in total defence.

Now that Quinn has chosen to stay with the Dallas Cowboys until the 2023 season, it appears that his moment has

finally arrived.

Where Could Dan Quinn Land?

Apart from the New England Patriots (who used a contract clause to hire former linebackers coach Jerod Mayo), the

Las Vegas Raiders (who elevated interim head coach Antonio Pierce to a permanent role), and the Atlanta Falcons

(who are actively pursuing a long list of well-known candidates), almost every team has courted Quinn at some point

during the head coaching interview process.

According to Jordan Schultz, Quinn was supposed to have a second interview with the Tennessee Titans before they

quickly signed Brian Callahan, the former offensive coordinator of the Cincinnati Bengals. He will now have in-

person interviews in the subsequent rounds with the Seattle Seahawks and the Washington Commanders.

Which NFL Franchise Is The Best Fit For Quinn?

All indications currently point to Jim Harbaugh taking over as the Los Angeles Chargers’ next head coach, while the

Carolina Panthers appear to be an organisational failure as a result of owner David Tepper’s alleged interference in

football operations.

And that leaves the Commanders and Seahawks mentioned before. The Seahawks would make sense because of the

defensive ethos that they have carried over from the lengthy era of recently fired head coach Pete Carroll. Not to

mention that before to accepting his first head coaching position in Atlanta in 2015, Quinn served as Carroll’s

defensive coordinator during the Legion of Boom in 2013–14.

Conversely, Washington has a club that is completely rebuilt at every level of play. It’s obvious that new owner Josh

Harris wants to get rid of Dan Snyder from the team permanently by dealing their top two pass rushers in the middle

of the season and replacing the front office executive staff.

Given the abundance of excellent head coaching prospects available this season, it appears likely that Quinn will be

able to get a position that will solidify his legacy as either a superb defensive coordinator or head coach.
