Henderson, NevadaThe Las Vegas Raiders surprised everyone in the NFL when they revealed today that Tom Telesco, the dismissed general manager of the Los Angeles Chargers, will be the permanent general manager of the team instead of Interim GM Champ Kelly or Ed Dodds of the Indianapolis Colts.
Telesco, a decent guy by all accounts, offers a wealth of experience to the Silver and Black.

Raiders Name Tom Telesco General Manager
HENDERSON, Nevada: The Las Vegas Raiders have chosen Tom Telesco general manager. In the history of the franchise, he becomes the fifth general manager.
After serving as the Chargers’ general manager for the last 11 seasons, Telesco is starting his 29th season in the NFL. He was instrumental in leading the team to three postseason appearances and two postseason wins while he was in San Diego and Los Angeles.
Additionally, he selected six players—Jason Verrett, Melvin Gordon III, Joey Bosa, Derwin James Jr., Justin Herbert, and Rashawn Slater—in the first round who were chosen to play for the squad in the Pro Bowl. Telesco assembled a roster in 2022 that included eight past Pro Bowl players that were signed via trade, the draft, or free agency.
Telesco played 15 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts before joining the Chargers. He held positions as an area scout (1998–2000), director of player personnel (2006–11), director of pro scouting (2004–05), vice president of football operations (2012), and pro scout (2001-03). Four-time Pro Bowl running back Edgerrin James, five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Reggie Wayne, seven-time Pro Bowler Dwight Freeney, and four-time Pro Bowl quarterback Andrew Luck were all taken by the Colts during Telesco’s drafts. The Colts participated in two Super Bowls, won eight division titles, and made twelve postseason appearances while he was in Indianapolis.
Telesco began his NFL career as a scouting assistant for the Carolina Panthers in 1995, where he served for two seasons before becoming an area scout in 1997. He also worked as a summer intern for the Buffalo Bills from 1991-1994.
Telesco, a Buffalo, New York native, earned a business management degree from John Carroll University. He was a starter on the Ohio Athletic Conference championship squad in 1994 while playing wide receiver for the Blue Streaks. He co-chairs the NFL General Manager Advisory Committee and was invited to speak at the NFL’s Career Development Symposium in both 2015 and 2018. Thomas and Nicholas are Telesco’s two boys, while Elena is their daughter. He is married to Larah.
The NFL Scouting Combine will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, from February 27 to March 4, 2024. The NFL Draft is scheduled for April 25–27, 2024, in Detroit, Michigan. The No. 13 overall pick is presently in the hands of the Las Vegas Raiders.
