Why Jeremy Swayman Apologized After Bruins’ Win Over Jets

Why Jeremy Swayman Apologized After Bruins’ Win Over Jets.

Jeremy Swayman was beaming following the Bruins’ fifth straight victory, but there was also some regret mixed in.

Earlier in the third period, Swayman was attempting to clear the puck along the boards when he unintentionally hit a referee with the puck behind

Boston’s net. Play was briefly stopped after the official fell to the ice, where he was attended to by Swayman and Charlie McAvoy before the action at TD Garden continued.

Following his 21-save performance against the Winnipeg Jets, the All-Star goaltender apologized for the accident and expressed sympathy for the referee.

“I felt so bad, I hit a boy in stripes tonight. I felt so bad,” Swayman told reporters after Boston’s 4-1 triumph, per a team-provided video.

“We shared laughter throughout the entire game.” He will have a great bruise on his shoulder near the NHL logo.

However, I told him that I had been there. I’m so sorry. I’m sorry, buddy.

Luckily for Swayman, Monday night’s low points were few and far between, including the referee incident.

When the Bruins play the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday, they’ll aim to continue their winning streak.

The competition will be fully covered by NESN starting at 6:30 p.m. ET.
