Rangers demand very high fee to sell Ridvan Yilmaz in late January transfer

Rangers are demanding an extremely high price to move Ridvan Yilmaz in late January.

According to Kadir Cetincali, Rangers have placed a £5.5 million price tag on Ridvan Yilmaz in response to Galatasaray’s January transfer interest.

The Germans have requested a “very high” transfer fee for the full-back and want the money immediately, according to a journalist from Ajans1905 who reported on January 22.

As per Mustafa Ozgur Sancar, Yilmaz is the only active target for Rangers this month, and it is thought that talks between Galatasaray and the player are presently underway.

Just a question of time

Rangers signed Yilmaz from Besiktas for an initial sum of £3.4 million, increasing to £5 million with add-ons. It makes sense that Rangers are requesting a sizable bid for Yilmaz, according to BBC Sport.

Despite agreeing to a five-year contract in July 2022, the 22-year-old’s Ibrox career has been underwhelming. Even after making 30 appearances, Philippe Clement has made it clear that he wants to sign a new left-back.

It’s possible that Yilmaz and Borna Barisic fall short of the caliber of play that the Belgian coach demands from his team. However, £5.5 million does seem excessive for a player who, should Rangers find a replacement, will no longer be required at Ibrox.

The defender, who has six international caps for Turkey and prior experience in that top division, may or may not be brought in by Galatasaray depending on their level of desperation.

If Rangers want to get rid of Yilmaz during the January transfer window, they could have to cut their asking price. If they can do so quickly, it will free up more money to sign a new player.

In other Rangers news, the agent of Abdallah Sima has mentioned a long-term move.
