The Dallas Cowboys are being beseeched to sign the athlete who may be the best at his position.

Dallas ought to consider acquiring Chris Jones.

a Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle,

as suggested by Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox.

Just before the season started, he inked a new one-year contract.

Jones, 29, has this offseason as a free agent.

Knox states unequivocally that Jones is the NFL’s “premier” defensive tackle and that the Cowboys’ run

defense is merely poor.

In their postseason losses to the San Francisco 49ers, the Dallas defense was pummeled by the rushing

attack.

Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills, according to Knox.

The Cowboys’ run defense would be strengthened on the front end by adding a top defensive tackle

like Chris Jones of the Kansas City Chiefs. Mazi Smith,

a defensive tackle from Michigan, was a developmental talent who Dallas acquired with a first-round

pick.

Why Chris Jones Is the Kind of Player the Cowboys Need  Dallas’

defense was ranked 15th in yards per attempt allowed and 16th in rushing yards.

During the three games against the top teams stated earlier,

the Cowboys gave up 193 running yards per contest on average.

To put things in perspective, the Arizona Cardinals,

who had the worst run defense in the NFL, gave up 143.2 rushing yards per contest.  Put another way,

the Cowboys’ biggest issue heading into the offseason is,

certainly, their run defense and lack of effective run-stoppers.

Jones is still unquestionably among the best as he approaches his age-30 season in 2024.

With 30 tackles and 10.5 sacks, he recently secured his fifth straight Pro Bowl selection and his second

First-Team All-Pro selection.

Cowboys Might Be Averse to Signing Chris Jones Due to Cost  Jones recorded an 84.1 defensive rating

and a 90.3 pass-rushing grade in 2023,

per Pro Football Focus. Among all defensive tackles,

His grade for pass-rushing was third.

and he received a ninth-grade defensive rating. How much Jones will be paid in free agency is the

primary worry.
