The midfielder – who will be 24 on Friday – is hoping he and his team-mates can pick up the full points

when they welcome the Light Blues at the weekend.

The Light Blues are scheduled to visit the SMiSA the following day, so the Northern Irish midfielder will

celebrate turning 24 on Friday.

Boyd-Munce also wants to return to winning ways in the Premiership after helping to set up a Scottish

Cup last-16 matchup with Celtic for next month.

Speaking after Alex Gogic headed the Buddies to a 1-0 win over Queen of the South on Saturday, he said:

“The aim of the game is just to get into the next round.

“It was 1-0 but we looked back and both [disallowed] goals were onside so it was quite comfortable.

“It was a little bit different going into a game with no VAR. Now, we would have loved to have had it, but

it is what it is.

“I thought we were really professional after a good week out in Spain. A lot of stuff we worked on came

to the front and I thought we deserved it.

“It’s actually my birthday on Friday, and my missus will be here and I’m looking forward to it.

“I think we all love playing in games like this [against Rangers]. Hopefully it’s better than the Celtic

game. We’re due one against the Old Firm so hopefully Saturday is one.

While Keanu Baccus was playing well for Australia at the Asian Cup and Mark O’Hara’s injury had left

Saints depleted, Boyd-Munce joined on-loan Celtic midfielder Hyeokkyu Kwon in the middle of the park

against Queens.

Although Boyd-Munce hasn’t played a game for the defending champions since the £1 million signing,

he is impressed.

He remarked, “I thought our partnership was really good in the middle, and I thought he was really

good.”

“You can tell he’s really excellent strategically; he wins the ball back and keeps things simple. Although I

felt that we worked incredibly well together, losing two players like Mark and Keanu will always be felt.

It’s good to watch someone who understands my style of play, someone I know who is at ease with the

ball, like Keanu and Mark.

“Adding that strength and depth is a good idea, and I believe it will only help us for the remainder of the

season.”
