Among the teams apparently keeping an eye on the left-back is FC Twente, who have supposedly given Gjis Smal a strict ultimatum over a new contract with Rangers.

interest from Galatasaray and Hellas Verona this month, while the Croat’s contract expires in the summer.Although Twente’s 26-year-old could
provide a solution, Philippe Clement has already declared that neither left-back will be departing this month until another one arrives.
Smal has reportedly reached his breaking point with the Eredivise team; they have extended an offer of a new contract, but he has not yet committed
to the team. Now that he is free to talk to other teams, AD’s Twente reporter Leon ten Voorde says the defender has become less patient.
He stated on the podcast De Warming Up: “FC Twente has given the order ‘Take it or leave it.'”
“Twente is a big club, and he wasn’t sold in the summer. He is completely free to go where he wants.
If he wants to leave on a free transfer in the summer, that is up to him. It is his choice, his career, but the club is still there. If you see what him plat at this moment, then I think: this is it for him.”
Dubbed ‘Smaldini’ in his native country due to his resemblance to the renowned Italian full back Paolo Maldini, Smal joined Twente on a free transfer
from Volendam three years ago and finished the previous season with the most assists in the Dutch top division.
Despite an injury that has hampered his season, SciSports, a Dutch website, reports that PSV and Rangers are also keeping an eye on the great player.
