Rangers close in on signing of “good dribbler” who is “physically strong”

A fee has been agreed with the player in question.

An agreement has apparently been reached for a player who is both a “good dribbler” and “physically strong” between Rangers and manager Philippe Clement, and the two parties are about to finalize another January deal.

Rangers transfer news

The Gers have been linked with lots of players in recent weeks after landing Fabio Silva on loan, as they look to give themselves the strongest possible chance of winning the Scottish Premiership title this season.

Rangers are working hard on signing Abdallah Sima

A recent report claimed that Rangers are working hard on signing Abdallah Sima on a permanent move, following an impressive loan spell to date this season, but other incomings are also being mooted. More attacking signings look like a priority this month, and Leeds United striker Joe Gelhardt has emerged as a possible option, with rivals Celtic also interested in snapping up the young Englishman, who has fallen out of favour with the Whites.

There are also lingering rumors of a bid for Hearts’ in-form hero Lawrence Shankland, a 28-year-old who could provide goals right away at Ibrox. Nonetheless, a few players may leave, with Ridvan Yilmaz appearing to be the most likely to do so. In that case, a replacement left-back will be required. In that regard, a number of suitors have surfaced, notably Bristol City mainstay Cameron Pring and Liverpool youngster Owen Beck.

Rangers agree fee with Mohamed Diomande

A sum has reportedly been agreed upon between Rangers and FC Nordsjaelland for the recruitment of midfield player Mohamed Diomande, according to Danish tabloid B.T. [via Ibrox News].

To finalize the transfer, the player is reportedly taking a plane home from a training camp in the United States with his present team. A medical examination is scheduled for “in the coming days.”

Diomande, who has made four appearances in the UEFA Europa Conference League this season, is someone who might go right in and make a major effect at the center of the midfield, which is fantastic news for Rangers.

He has 111 appearances to his name for his current club, scoring 13 goals and registering 14 assists in that time, showing that he can be a reliable source of end product from the middle of the park.

With games coming up thick and fast as the season progresses, Clement may find that extra depth and quality is invaluable during the January transfer window, and Diomande may provide just that. Flemming Pederson, the former coach of Nordsjaelland, has also praised him in the past, stating in 2020:

“‘He is an all-round player. He is at his very best in the central midfield, where he usually takes up a lot of space. He is a player who covers a large area. He is a good dribbler. He is a good ball winner, pretty strong in the main game as well and physically strong. When he gets used to the Super League, he will also become one of our significant players.”

Diomande, who is 22 years old, is still a young player whose greatest years may still be ahead of him. As such, he might be initially considered a squad player while he gets used to the pace and strength of the Scottish game before developing into a significant starter over time.
