Zach LaVine ‘increasingly’ likely to remain with Bulls past trade deadline

With the trade deadline approaching, it appears that Zach LaVine is highly likely to stay with the Chicago Bulls.

The Chicago Bulls don’t seem to be making any progress. They were in the play-in tournament a year ago, and now that the season is halfway over, they are ninth in the Eastern Conference. Once again, it appears that they will be no better than play-in round participants, raising the possibility that they may be involved in trade-deadline movements.

They could elect to add one or two players in the hopes of improving their situation, but it’s more probable that they’ll trade proven players for future draft picks. One of the names that usually comes up in conversation is combo guard Zach LaVine, who has been one of the team’s top scorers since being moved from the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Bulls in 2017.

While LaVine is a notable player who can fill the net when on a hot streak and may potentially bring substantial assets to Chicago, the team has yet to receive an acceptable offer for him.

LaVine is under contract until the end of the 2025-26 season, but he has been regularly injured. As a result, any team considering acquiring him understands that they may lose him at any time. LaVine suffered an ankle injury against the Toronto Raptors on Thursday night, and the organization expects him to miss 1-2 weeks of game action.

Zach LaVine has played 25 games this season, averaging 19.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game.
