Following the official announcement of Smith’s departure, it was widely believed that Bill Belichick, the head coach of the New England Patriots, was the front-runner for the position and that Smith’s replacement in Atlanta might not be chosen for some time.
However, it appears the team is taking its time to make a decision on who will be the next head coach, with the Falcons interviewing quite a few candidates and bringing in some coaches more than once. Along with interviewing Belichick twice for the coaching job in Atlanta, the team is also bringing back Jim Harbaugh of the University of Michigan for a second interview, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
Here are some fan reactions to the news that Harbaugh will be getting a second interview with Falcons:
Since it appears to be one of the most sought-after coaching positions in the NFL right now, the Falcons appear to be a bit unpredictable right now. It’s hard to guess who will be hired in Atlanta. The franchise is interviewing Mike Vrabel, who was formerly with the Tennessee Titans, for the position next week in addition to Harbaugh and Belichick. It is obvious that the team is exercising due diligence and that selecting one of the three applicants listed won’t be a bad decision.
