Rangers now ready to open talks to sign “electric” player.

Rangers transfer news

Knowing that adding some new players during the January transfer window will help Philippe Clement’s team have that little bit more quality.

In the hunt for the Scottish Premiership title, the Gers intend to challenge Celtic all the way, and by season’s end, some extra depth may be crucial.

This month, a number of players have been mentioned as potential signings to Rangers, including Joe Gelhardt of Leeds United, a striker who is

supposedly desired by both the Gers and Celtic. Another name that keeps coming up is Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland, a Scot who has had a fantastic season thus far.

It does look as though an attacking signing is at the top of Clement’s list of priorities in January, with young Bristol City striker Tommy

Conway another player linked with a move to Ibrox, fresh off the back of scoring the winning goal against West Ham in the FA Cup third round earlier this week.

However, the latest rumour involves a player currently plying their trade at Ibrox…

Rangers want permanent Abdallah Sima move

According to a recent report from Football Insider, the Rangers are keen to start talks with Abdallah Sima over a long-term move to Ibrox. The transfer could be worth more than the club record £12 million they paid for Tore Andre Flo at the start of the century.

Football Insider has been informed by sources that the Rangers are ready to start talking to Adballah Sima about a club-record contract. In an interview with the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast, transfer journalist Pete O’Rourke said that the Gers will “no doubt” hold talks with Brighton for a permanent move for the Senegal international when the January transfer window ends.

“It is believed that Brighton would be open to a sale of the loanee in the summer, who is valued at between £10-15million. A deal for Sima, if it can be agreed, would most likely break Rangers’ long-standing club-record deal, which is still Tore Andre Flo’s reported £12million move from Chelsea in November 2000.”

Rangers would consider acquiring a permanent acquisition of Abdallah to be a major commercial decision, perhaps even more so than bringing in any other new players this month or during the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old has excelled while on loan at Ibrox this season, tallying 10 goals in just 15 starts in the Scottish Premiership. James Tavernier, the captain of the Gers, has recently praised the player:

“This season, (Abdallah Sima) has been a true offensive menace for us. He can finish in challenging areas and has an incredible pace. We generally need to provide our forwards with stronger team support. We must avoid them and provide them with the same possibilities to score as Allah.”

It seems like an obvious move, and if Sima is open to the notion of staying with Rangers for an extended amount of time, the Senegalese player will have the opportunity to emerge as a true hero for the team.
