‘He was’… Bukayo Saka now shares what he really thought of Unai Emery at Arsenal

Unai Emery wasn’t the most popular man in north London during his time at Arsenal.

The Spaniard struggled for eighteen months at the Emirates, where he was given the difficult responsibility of taking over for Arsene Wenger at Arsenal. Sadly, Emery’s time at Arsenal didn’t work out, and the supporters did start to dislike him.

But Emery did develop close relationships with many of his players, and now that he’s spoken to TNT Sports, Bukayo Saka has revealed his true feelings about the coach.

Saka says that he still really likes Emery, claiming that he’s a really nice man and that he actually tries to thank him for everything he did whenever Arsenal play against Aston Villa these days.

Saka liked Emery

The youngster spoke about his former manager.

“I can never forget him, he’s the one who gave me my debut, he gave me that moment and so many more appearances. I’m always so grateful to him. I’m really happy for him you know. I always make sure I say hello to him when I play against them and say thank you as well. He was a really nice man and a really nice coach as well and I really enjoyed my time under him,” Saka said.

What could’ve been?

Although Arsenal has performed admirably under Mikel Arteta in recent years, we can’t help but wonder what could have occurred if Emery had stayed on.

Emery is undoubtedly doing a fantastic job at Aston Villa, and if he had been given the freedom to construct the Arsenal team according to his vision, they may be in a far better position than they are at the moment. Emery’s legacy with the Gunners might be different if he had been granted the same amount of time at Arsenal as Arteta. However, that was not the case.
