Barry Ferguson shares ‘no doubt’ Rangers January transfer verdict as new forward arrival mooted at Ibrox

Barry Ferguson shares ‘no doubt’ Rangers January transfer verdict as new forward arrival mooted at Ibrox.

Barry Ferguson stated in a recent statement regarding the January transfer window at Ibrox that there is “no doubt” Rangers need to acquire at least one new forward.

Fabio Silva is the sole new player to join Philippe Clement’s squad at Ibrox this month; he is a forward from Portugal who is loaned to Wolves for the duration of the season.

However, with the end of the window drawing ever closer, Ferguson has encouraged Clement to start “wheeling and dealing” as he has urged the Light Blues to add to their misfiring frontline before the end of the month.

Appearing on The Go Radio Football Show on January 19, at 14:50, he stated: “It’s undeniable that they need another attacking player. Sima is obviously not playing for his country, and the management undoubtedly wants to bolster everyone on the field.

But when it comes to money, he’ll have to play a little sleight of hand. Sincerely, I believe he knows what he wants; the question is whether he’ll get it now or in the summer, but I have no doubt he’ll give it his all.

“I have no doubt that the Rangers board will make every effort to assist him in achieving that.”

Wheeling and dealing

Leading into the January transfer window at Ibrox, the suggestion was that Clement would finally be set to put his footprint into this Rangers squad with a couple of quality additions to help the Gers reach a new level and overthrow Celtic.

But with 20 days gone, the incoming business has been absolutely minimal, with Silva the only new face through the door and little indication that any other new additions are imminent in the coming days.

It might make for an extremely uncomfortable second half of the season at Ibrox this year if Rangers don’t get things going and Clement doesn’t start scheming to make sure his team can keep up with Celtic.

As Ferguson said, let’s hope the Belgian and Clement keep giving it their all and the Gers can get at least one more striker over the finish line before the end of January.
