Arsenal v Everton Women clash in WSL top-of-the-table changing weekend

This weekend’s main women’s matchup is Arsenal Women vs. Everton. Against Everton, our Gunners will be looking to get back on track. Prior to the winter break, they were defeated 1-0 by Spurs in their most recent WSL match. This was the first time Arsenal Women had lost to their opponent from North London and their second loss of the season.

In their past encounters with Everton, Arsenal has consistently prevailed, both at home and away. Only once, in a 2-2 draw at Walton Park in 2012, did the Toffees manage to draw with Arsenal.

Given that Arsenal has defeated Everton in every meeting since 2012, supporters would be expecting nothing less than victory this coming Saturday. They won’t, however, be looking for an easy victory. Although our Gunner women have found a way to defeat the best teams, the ones they were handily defeating (Spurs and Liverpool) shocked them, so they will be expecting a difficult match, which they hopefully win. One should not undervalue Everton. Thankfully, Jonas Eidevall made hints that his team will treat the Toffees with respect and that they would be a tough opponent. stating at the pre-game press conference:

“They’ve been consistent in the way that they’ve been playing. They haven’t let short-term results influence too much of their belief in what they’re trying to achieve as a group long-term.

“They’ve picked up some results lately, but the reality has been that, in some of the games earlier on in the season, they could’ve picked up results as well, but they didn’t.”

A convincing victory over Everton may be the ideal way for Arsenal Women to declare their purpose to their championship rivals and declare war on them. Arsenal Women want to win the league. Arsenal has 12 games left and three points at the top of the league, so they have every chance to climb the standings.

The outcomes of Chelsea vs. Manchester United, Manchester City vs. Liverpool on Sunday, and Arsenal vs. Everton today will undoubtedly affect the top of the WSL table.
