The Saudi Pro League club ‘approached’ Everton in regards to Abdoulaye Doucoure’s transfer.
According to reports, Al-Ettifaq has approached Everton about a transfer for Abdoulaye Doucoure.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Steven Gerrard’s Saudi Pro League team has named the Blues midfielder as one of their main targets to take Jordan Henderson’s spot.
Earlier this week, the club decided to sever ties with the former captain of Liverpool, and he left Al-Ettifaq, who finished seventh last season and are presently sitting eighth in the standings, 28 points behind leaders Al-Hilal. Since then, Henderson has joined Ajax.
Meanwhile, Doucoure, who was frozen out by Frank Lampard near the conclusion of his Goodison Park spell, has been a revelation since Sean Dyche arrived last year.
In November, the midfield player signed a new deal that will keep him with the Blues until the end of June 2025, rewarding his outstanding achievements. This season’s finish marked the expiration of his prior contract.
The Mali international said, “It has been a long time, it has been almost eight years now,” in response to a question in November about whether he was enjoying life in the Premier League.
