5 Bucs Make PFF’s Top 100 Free Agent List

5 Bucs Make PFF’s Top 100 Free Agent List

Pro Football Focus has released its list of the top free agents in 2024, and five Bucs players reached the Top 100, including two Tampa Bay stars in the Top 20. To no one’s surprise, All-Pro safety Antoine Winfield Jr. and wide receiver Mike Evans, a Pro Bowler and second-team All-Pro, rank eighth and thirteenth, respectively.

Winfield is the top-rated safety in free agency, according to PFF, and is expected to receive the franchise tag from Tampa Bay, which is a one-year contract worth $17.22 million. That is possible, or the Bucs and Winfield may reach an agreement on a multi-year contract extension for more than that much per year.

Evans had a tremendous season at the age of 30, reaching 1,000 receiving yards for the tenth consecutive year to start his career, setting a new NFL record. He is expected to receive a three-year contract worth $23 million each year. PFF predicts Evans will sign a $69 million contract in free agency, with $52.5 million in guaranteed money.

Tampa Bay will not allow Winfield to enter free agency, but Evans may be allowed to test the free agent waters and return a contract offer to the Bucs to see if they will match it. Evans is unlikely to play for anyone other than the Buccaneers next season.

Bucs QB Baker Mayfield’s PFF Free Agent Ranking Is A Bit Puzzling

Buccaneers inside linebacker Lavonte David, 34, is coming off one of his greatest seasons since joining the league in 2012. David ranked 39th on Pro Football Focus‘ list of free agents in 2024. PFF predicts David will sign a one-year contract worth $5 million this offseason.

Tampa Bay, which is interested in re-signing David, signed the veteran linebacker to a one-year contract paying $4.5 million in base salary for the 2023 season, but he also received a $2.5 million performance bonus this year.

Pro Football Focus ranks Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield as the 75th-ranked free agent in 2024, which is surprising. Mayfield is also the third-highest ranked quarterback on the list, trailing only Minnesota’s Kirk Cousins (second overall) and Tennessee’s Ryan Tannehill (68th overall).

In free agency, PFF expects Cousins to receive a two-year deal for $30 million per year, while the frequently injured Tannehill is only expected to earn $5.5 million over two years. Mayfield is expected to sign a three-year contract worth $75 million, of which $40 million is guaranteed.

The idea that Mayfield is rated lower than Tannehill defies logic and makes no sense, especially because Tannehill had a PFF grade of 68.7 and Mayfield had a PFF grade of 75.9. Mayfield, 28, started every game this season and did significantly better than Tannehill, 35, who started only 10 games.

, who is ranked No. 73 among free agents. White, who had a bad and inconsistent contract year, is expected to receive a one-year deal worth $7 million.
