Rangers midfielder returns after loan cut short as ex Ibrox favourite joins Motherwell.

Alex Lowry, a 20-year-old midfielder for Rangers, has returned to Ibrox after the Jambos ended his loan stint at Hearts.

In an official statement released on Friday night, the Edinburgh club confirmed the announcement. Head coach and former Gers hero Steven

Naismith stated that the club, not his parent club, had taken the choice. “We made the decision to terminate the loan with Alex’s best interests in mind,” he stated.

“Alex’s skill as a player is undeniable, and he has occasionally demonstrated his abilities on the field. But given how fiercely our group is competing for

spots, it’s unlikely that he will get the game time necessary to continue developing, which is one of the main reasons he came in the first place.

“I’ve no doubt he’ll go on to become a top player. He’s a great boy, we thank him for all his efforts at Hearts and wish him well for the future.
” The 20-
year old scored one goal across 20 appearances in all competitions for Hearts.

In the meantime, Hearts’ former Ibrox favourite Andy Halliday has also departed the team. He will play the second half of 2023–2024 on loan at

Motherwell, a Premiership opponent. The agreement calls for a permanent move when the 32-year-old’s current contract expires this summer.

During his tenure with the Jambos, Halliday made over 100 appearances and was a big favourite at Tynecastle.

During his playing career, he played for Livingston and Middlesbrough in addition to Rangers, where he was a member from 2015 to 2018.
