Could Dan Quinn still return to Cowboys in 2024?
Dan Quinn, the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, turned down several head coaching jobs in the past to stay in his current role.
Even though it’s unlikely to happen this offseason, he still has a path back to Dallas in 2024.
Head coach Mike McCarthy was ambiguous on Thursday, but according to ESPN’s Ed Werder, if Quinn doesn’t get hired as a head
coach elsewhere, he’s expected to return to Dallas. Quinn has five scheduled interviews and is a highly sought-after prospect for coaching.
Quinn appears to have a legitimate chance of landing a job elsewhere. There is one spot in particular where he could be an ideal fit.
He also seems to be more aggressive this offseason about surveying potential head coaching jobs as opposed to
last year, when he took himself out of the running fairly early in the process in order to remain with Dallas.
Jerry Jones, the owner, thinks highly of Quinn, and he was even mentioned as a possible internal McCarthy substitute.
Although some may have had second thoughts after his defense’s dismal showing in the NFC Wild Card loss to
Green Bay, he is still in great demand and seems to have a job no matter what happens this offseason.
