Update:Saints GM Mickey Loomis reflects on 2023 season, recent personnel changes
WLOX, NEW ORLEANS, LA – The New Orleans Saints vice president and general manager, Mickey Loomis, met with the media one day after the team cut ties with three offensive assistants, including offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael, to discuss the 2023 campaign and the recent personnel moves leading up to the 2024 campaign.
“We felt that as an organization, we needed the change, and Pete is a fantastic coach who has been with us for 17 and 18 years and has done a lot of really good things,” Loomis stated.
In response to a question on head coach Dennis Allen’s future, Loomis said he was confident in the defensive play-calling skills of Allen and even dug into his pocket for a list of Hall of Fame coaches who have since had success.
“Sometimes the easy thing to do, the lazy thing to do, is to look at the results of the season and say it’s the coach’s fault,” Loomis said. “My assessment of Dennis Allen is a good coach.”
