Ronald Powell was the top high school football player in the country in 2010.
The late Ronald Powell was a former NFL linebacker who played his rookie season with the New
Orleans Saints. His age was thirty-two. The NFL Players Association (NFLPA) announced his passing
on social media on Tuesday; the cause of death was not disclosed.
We lament the passing of Ronald Powell today; he was a beloved son, brother, and father to a large
number of people. All those who knew Ronald, we express our condolences,” the NFLPA wrote. Powell
was chosen in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Saints. He participated in 14 games for the
team in 2014 before being cut by September 2015. Before signing with the Seattle Seahawks in 2016,
Powell was a member of the practice squads for the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After
being cut by the Seahawks in 2017, Powell didn’t play football again until 2019 when he signed with the
Alliance of American Football’s Orlando Apollos. Later in the year, the league disbanded.
Powell was a Florida Gators college football player. “We’re very saddened to learn about the passing of
former Gators player Ronald Powell,” the team said in a statement. His family and loved ones are in our
thoughts and prayers.” Powell attended Rancho Verde High School in California, where he played high
school football. Powell was rated as the nation’s top prospect by 247Sports in 2010.

father. As Ronald Powell transitioned earlier today, I regret to inform the world of this. Former Saints
