Mike McCarthy, Cowboys staff operating at status quo as decision looms

Three days have passed since the Dallas Cowboys’ humiliating playoff exit.

Following Dallas’ devastating 48-32 wild-card crushing at the hands of the Green Bay Packers, there

were loud murmurs about head coach Mike McCarthy’s future.

Entering into exit interviews with players and coaches, McCarthy and his team are now conducting

business as usual, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero revealed on NFL Total Access on Wednesday.

Pelissero pointed out that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is renowned for pausing after a season to review

things, and returning to the regular season, Jones had not indicated that he would like to switch coaches.

with three consecutive seasons of twelve wins, including two NFC East crowns. The 60-year-old coach is

1-2 in the playoffs, though, and is the sixth Dallas head coach to fail to get the team past the Divisional

Round since Barry Switzer in 1995.

Pelissero stated that it’s “certainly in the realm of possibility” that the Cowboys keep McCarthy, but

given that other teams are interested in hiring defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as head coach,

significant changes to the Dallas coaching staff are probably in store.
