Mickey Loomis talks hiring process for the Saints offensive coordinator

Mickey Loomis talks hiring process for the Saints offensive coordinator.

Many have questioned who should be cut next after the New Orleans Saints revealed that they have split with offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael. Dennis Allen was the person many fans wanted to be next in line. On the other hand, Saints general manager Mickey Loomis addressed the supporters on Wednesday who had been calling for coach Dennis Allen’s dismissal on social media platforms like Twitter and X.

“The easy thing to do — the lazy thing to do — is look at the results of the season and say, ‘It’s the coach’s fault, or ‘It’s the quarterback’s fault,'” Loomis said during his season-ending press conference. You frequently need to look farther than that.

“He went on… It’s group-based. The players are to blame. The coaches are to blame. It’s me. It is our roster, our personnel staff. Sometimes we have no control over the variables. Thus, in my opinion, Dennis Allen is an excellent instructor.

Thus, it is certain that Dennis Allen will continue to work for the upcoming season. Who will be the new offensive coordinator, one wonders? Fans are attempting to look ahead to the upcoming season and the person Loomis will quickly appoint to take Carmichael’s place, as he was with the team since he was recruited by Sean Payton in 2006.

Loomis stated that the hiring process would not be rushed, which is often a mistake made in the league. He wants to make the right hire.

“We’re going to make the right hire,” Loomis said. “We’re not going to make the expedient hire.”

Between both Nick Underhill and Ian Rapoport releasing insider information via Twitter/X they have listed the top candidates that have been requested for interviews by the Saints, which include:

  • Cincinnati Bengals QB coach Dan Pitcher
  • Los Angeles Rams QB coach Zac Robinson
  • Seattle Seahawks OC Shane Waldron

As the Saints’ offseason goes on, more prospects should get interviews, and several front-runners could stand out. Who, in your opinion, ought to the Saints interview? Tell us in the comments section below.
