Major Steven Gerrard blow as Henderson leaves Al-Ettifaq.
Steven Gerrard has been dealt a major blow as Al-Ettifaq manager with Jordan Henderson terminating his contract at the club.
Henderson had made the move to Saudi in the summer from Liverpool as Gerrard’s new club invested heavily in the transfer market.
However, reports earlier this month suggested Henderson was keen to leave the club and return to the Premier League.
As Henderson aspires to return to European football following his experience in Saudi Arabia, reports have also connected him to Ajax.
“Jordan Henderson’s contract with Al-Ettifaq FC of the Saudi Professional League (SPL) has been amicably terminated with immediate effect, the club said in a statement.
“The decision comes after the player and the relationship came to a friendly end.
“First of all, the club would like to thank Jordan for his efforts and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors,”
stated club president Samer Al Misehal. We treat our players with the utmost respect.
