Fabrizio Romano confirms £10.2m ace isn’t signing for Rangers

The Rangers won’t be signing David Jurasek, a Czech international left back for Benfica, is close to joining Hoffenheim.

This month, left backs have been linked to Rangers one after another.

Rangers will undoubtedly need to address this position in 2024 because Ridvan Yilmaz is receiving interest from other teams and Borna Barisic’s contract is about to expire.

There have been several names connected to Rangers this month, but one rumored target may finally be removed from the list.

Rangers set to miss out on David Jurasek

Reports in recent days indicated that Rangers are battling Bundesliga clubs in the race to sign Benfica left back David Jurasek.

One report on Wednesday even indicated that Rangers were in a strong position to sign Jurasek as he was open to making the move to Glasgow.

Well, Rangers appear to have missed out on this one as Jurasek is now poised to move to Germany.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Jurasek is set to sign for Hoffenheim – and has given the move his usual ‘here we go’ catchphrase.

Romano claims that Jurasek is now joining Hoffenheim on loan for the rest of the season with an option to buy.

The permanent clause is not mandatory but it will cost around €12million (£10.3million) to activate.

Jurasek’s prospects of really joining seem to have been minimal all along because that kind of price tag would have been well beyond Rangers.

After seeing Jurasek excel for Slavia Prague, Benfica secured a deal with him in the summer that was estimated to be worth £12 million.

However, Jurasek has not been able to establish himself in Lisbon, and Benfica has recently added Alvaro Fernandez, a left back, from Manchester United.

That has made it possible for Jurasek to depart, but he isn’t going to Ibrox, so the Rangers will now need to direct their attention elsewhere

in their search for a new left back.
