Chicago Bears Among Potential Candidates for ‘Hard Knocks’ Participation

Potential Participants in “Hard Knocks” Include the Chicago Bears.

The Chicago Bears might suddenly find themselves in the spotlight of the reality series “Hard Knocks,” which airs on HBO and NFL Films. The Bears are one of three NFL clubs who meet the requirements to be permitted to play this year, along with the Denver Broncos and the New Orleans Saints.

Qualifications for “Hard Knocks” Enrollment

The partnership between HBO and NFL Films has outlined specific criteria for teams’ participation in the reality show. Teams that have a first-year coach, have made the playoffs in the last two years, or have appeared on ‘Hard Knocks’ in the previous decade, are exempt from mandatory participation. Teams not fitting these exemptions can volunteer, but if insufficient teams step forward, those fitting the criteria may be chosen.

The Chicago Bears Might Get Into It

The Bears could be a desirable option for the show, given that they haven’t made the playoffs since 2020 and that only four teams have missed more postseason games than them. The prospective addition of a new quarterback might give the series a compelling new narrative strand. The New York Jets were finally selected to go on the show last year; the Chicago Bears were not able to decline either.

Qualifications of Other Teams

The Washington Commanders now have the choice to opt out following the hiring of a new coach. The New Orleans Saints and Denver Broncos are still among the clubs who might be forced to appear on the program, though. The possibility of Broncos coach Sean Payton being involved in the reality show is intriguing, especially if the Bears decide to keep the first overall choice and choose USC quarterback Caleb Williams.
