Simon Jordan snaps at Celtic and Rangers fan allocation feud and calls for SPFL sanctions
Simon Jordan has demanded that the SPFL step in and impose punishment in the Celtic and Rangers
rivalry regarding the distribution of away fan tickets.
Due to the lack of spectators at both Parkhead and Ibrox during their most recent matches, the two
Glasgow giants have been involved in a dispute regarding away bettors inside the stadiums on derby day.
Before that decision was taken, just 750 tickets were distributed by both parties, with the justification
being fan safety.
A report emerged this week suggesting talks had been held about bringing back the 750 for the last two
derbies of this season, but Jordan still insists that’s not good enough. The traditional number was 7000
away supporters in the doors but while that may never happen again, Jordan feels the governing body
must prepare themselves to demand a change from both clubs or hand out punishments.
This serves as just another example of how Scottish football is not run as it ought to be. Its upper
management need to be telling Celtic and Rangers, “We’re not asking, we’re telling you.” And we’ll start
considering sanctioning you if you don’t resolve this issue. The biggest football matches in Scotland are
these ones. These are the matches that epitomize Scottish football. It’s disgusting. It’s terrible how they
appear, how they’re managed, and how they’ve been allowed to act like kids for this long. It’s a dismal
representation of what Scottish football ought to be.
