Sam Lammers hit with Rangers critique as pundit doubts Utrecht quality
Lammers has been questioned with Dessers and Danilo ahead of him
An vocal critic has questioned Sam Lammers’ abilities, believing he might not be able to make it at
Utrecht.
This month, the Dutchman moved on loan from Rangers after losing favor with manager Philippe
Clement. The 26-year-old’s season has been challenging as he has only scored two goals in 32
appearances across all competitions, including a blank effort in his Utrecht debut.
Fans were complimentary about the attacker from his first appearance at his new club but former Ajax
and PSV boss Aad de Mos wasn’t convinced. He also provided his thoughts on
Cyriel Dessers and Danilo being ahead of Lammers in the pecking order at Ibrox.
“He has not shown it at Atalanta, at Rangers FC he has also been overtaken by
Danilo and Cyriel Dessers, De Mos said. “He was redundant at PSV; he played some nice matches there.
So he is a boy with qualities. With all due respect, if you are not allowed to participate at
Rangers FC and you have Danilo and Dessers in front of you.
“Everyone might have said something different if it had been Dessers, and I’m not sure about Danilo
either. It’s all too erratic and too much in the bank. Then, there’s no assurance that you’ll just jump right
in to the Netherlands.
