Rangers dealt big injury blow as Clement gives transfer update
Rangers boss Philippe Clement has confirmed the club have been dealt a big injury blow ahead of the
game against Dumbarton.
The news that midfielder Kieran Dowell will be sidelined for an extended period of time has handed
Rangers a serious blow.
The Glasgow team played FC Copenhagen in a friendly last night, and head coach Philippe Clement said
that Dowell might be sidelined for some time following an injury he sustained during the team’s La
Manga training camp. Goals from Rabbi Matondo and Cyril Dessers gave the team a 2-2 tie. In addition,
he provided the supporters with a thorough transfer update before Saturday’s matchup with Dumbarton.
“Kieran was really unlucky that he stuck in the grass on a bad pitch in La Manga. He will be out quite a
long time normally” admitted the head coach. “We need to make an assessment around that and how
many weeks but he will not be back in the next couple of weeks that’s for sure” added Clement.
Dowell started to show promise following his injury and made five starts for the team as they kept
getting better under the new manager, so the loss will be devastating to both the individual and the
team. On the injury front, Clement did have some good news, as Dijon Sterling is anticipated to return
“by the end of the week.”
The Gers boss also handed fans a comprehensive update on incoming transfers saying: ““We need a few
more in certain positions. I know everybody in the club who is involved in that is working day and night
about that. We are in contact a lot.
