It’s about the only thing that didn’t go well for Love, who took a seat on the bench with a 48-16 lead in
the fourth quarter. At the time, Love had a perfect 158.3 passer rating. When the Cowboys cut the
margin to 48-32, Love came back into the game. His third-down incompletion left him a 157.2 rating.
Nonetheless, it tied Houston’s C.J. Stroud for the best playoff debut and broke the record for best passer
rating in a playoff road game. The previous record-setter? Packers legend Bart Starr with his 143.5 mark
in the 1966 NFL Championship Game in Dallas.
Love stated, “Everyone was flowing.” Everybody was playing at a high level, whether it was on special
teams, defense, or offense, and it appeared to be nearly effortless. However, I believe that everyone was
focused, aware of what needed to be done, and just carrying it out. We played the best execution game of
the year, in my opinion, in all three phases. Everyone was engaged in complementing ball play.
Love completed 16 of 21 passes for three touchdowns and 272 yards. In his last nine games, he has
exceeded a 100 passer rating eight times. He has thrown 22 touchdown passes and just one interception
in that time.
