JARRED HARVEY | WE ARE DISAPPOINTED, BUT WILL BE READY TO GO AGAIN

JARRED HARVEY | WE WILL BE READY TO GO AGAIN, BUT WE ARE DISAPPOINTED.

Coach Jarred Harvey insists Swansea City Under-18s will be ready to go again despite the disappointment of seeing their FA Youth Cup fourth-round tie against Fulham abandoned while leading 1-0.

Yori Griffith’s goal five minutes before the break had the hosts ahead against the Category One Cottagers.

But freezing conditions forced the game to be called off after the officials inspected the playing surface at the interval.

Harvey acknowledged the Swansea players were disappointed after putting themselves in a good position, but feels they have plenty to take forward into the tie when it is rescheduled.

“It’s beyond our control, we’re disappointed and the boys are disappointed,” he said.

“I thought we played really well as a team, and with some great individual performances, we were really good.

“We played excellent ball defense, placed guys on the ball, and scored a fantastic goal, in my opinion.

We had a few excellent opportunities to counterattack, and we played with purpose and passion. We also handled the conditions effectively.

“As per normal, we will get ready and depart once more. We thought we handled them with dignity and were ready to take them on in the game. There, your opponents are a fantastic Category One club.

“Considering everything, the boys gave a 45-minute performance that was quite good. We’ll make sure we’re ready to handle the pressure of competing in a big competition again because they handled it so well.”

Fans who purchase tickets for the rescheduled game may keep them; further information will be released soon.

If someone cannot attend the rescheduled date or would want a refund, they should send an email with their club account number to ticketing@swanseacity.com.
