Everton has had the worst start to the week, and it appears that it will be yet another nightmare. After edging over Aston Villa on Sunday, probably happy to have taken a point away from third-place opponents, rumors surfaced to dampen their excitement. They anticipated receiving further punishment.
Today, the Premier League found that both the Toffees and Nottingham Forest had violated expenditure regulations, confirming the theory.

While discussing an article about the Premier League’s future plans, the co-hosts expressed their utter distaste for what is planned for this summer. That’s because the Premier League intends to completely alter the regulations that they currently apply to Everton and Forest, perhaps punishing them but sparing Manchester City.

Will Everton be deducted even more points?
It is unclear if the first ten points taken away will stay that way while the appeal process is still pending. Ultimately, it appears that the team is still convinced that they did not conduct any offense that would have warranted such a harsh punishment, and KC Laurence Rabinowitz’s hiring will only strengthen their case.
If they are given another deduction, the idea is that it will coincide with the recovery of some of the initial set of points they lost, making it meaningless. But that is entirely up to the two impartial commissions, who will endeavor to reach a just resolution.
