The league insider claims that the Dallas locker room still supports head coach Mike McCarthy overall.

On January 15, 2024, Slater posted a statement on X stating, “To the supporters who think our team has

quit on Mike McCarthy, my chats with you

I never hear that from players at all. Hearing them defend him, his principles, and the way he has

coached them both on and off the field is intriguing.

What truly stands out is how Mike failed to fulfill their obligation.

This is not to deny that certain Cowboys players felt a certain amount of resentment toward McCarthy

and Dak Prescott.

Slater also stated that doubts existed over Prescott’s capacity to progress past his initial reading and his

inability to adjust amid the setback.

“Although fans may scoff, I do believe that players’ opinions count when Jerry Jones makes his

decisions,” Slater continued.

“On both sides of the ball, a player’s persistence in adhering to plans irritated another player.

According to an insider, Dak Prescott is still receiving “incredible support” in the Dallas Cowboys locker

room.
A day later, Slater attempted to set the scene for her first story. The NFL said Prescott still has

“incredibly supportive support in that locker room.”

The network reporter went on. Slater’s first assessment, though, implies that fans were, at the very least,

a little let down by McCarthy and Prescott’s performances in the team’s title game.

Slater said, “I should have given it more nuance and shouldn’t have put it in a tweet,” in a series of tweets

on January 16.
