Belichick, Eagles, Cowboys: Should the Falcons Make a “Hurry Hire”?
Perhaps it’s because of the six Super Bowl victories, or perhaps it’s because Bill Belichick, the puppet master, has applied his customary cunning and cruelty to this NFL Coaching Carousel game.
But all of a sudden, it seems like the Atlanta Falcons, who interviewed the fired Patriots legend for their head coaching position on Monday, have competition.
Two teams who don’t even have any openings are competing against each other.
Following a deluge of rumors that emerged from the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys rumor mill, Falcons owner Arthur Blank might now need to move quickly to finalize a deal for Belichick.
Or, at least, that’s the impression being created by Belichick and his minions.
The Falcons facing competition from an Eagles team that was in the Super Bowl a year ago? And from a Cowboys team that just assembled three straight 12-5 seasons?.
Yes, the Eagles under coach Nick Sirianni and the Cowboys under coach Mike McCarthy were eliminated from the postseason. However, their buildings have not yet been designated “safe” for them.
And there’s Belichick, the seventy-one-year-old vulture… awaiting his selection?Should they fire the head coaches they have now?
Owner Arthur Blank can provide the kind of organizational control that Belichick is accustomed to, which is unlikely to be found in Philadelphia or Dallas.
Can someone get Belichick to sign the contract with Atlanta right away? Sadly, the Falcons have no control over this situation, even though they might desire to close a deal before Dallas or Philadelphia complete their preparations.
