According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Liverpool would not permit Caoimhin Kelleher, a

rumored target for Celtic, to leave the team during the January transfer window.

Once more, there has been much speculation that the Hoops would make a move for the 25-year-old

Republic of Ireland international.

Despite current number one Joe Hart’s contract expiring at the end of the 2023–24 season, Celtic still

want a goalkeeper, according to a report published by Football Insider on Monday, January 15.

A deal for a new goalkeeper, though, might have to wait until the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers’ team is planning to add a new left-back and attacker.

Despite his lack of first-team experience, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reluctant to let Kelleher

depart Anfield this month because he views him as a valuable member of the club.

This season, the Cork native has made 11 appearances in all competitions, giving up 14 goals and

maintaining two clean sheets.

He entered the lineup for two Premier League games this season in place of an injured Alisson and

maintained a clean sheet in Sheffield United’s 2-0 loss.

Kelleher signed his most recent extension with the Merseysiders in 2021, and his current deal runs

through June 2026.

Since joining the team as a youth player, the right-footer has made 32 appearances for Liverpool in all,

the majority of which have been in cup competitions.

Although he is still on Anfield’s roster, Spanish goalkeeper Adrian has not played a single game this

season.

With 54 points, Celtic is leading the Scottish Premiership, eight points ahead of fierce rivals Rangers.

Liverpool leads Manchester City by two points at the top of the Premier League after 20 games.
