In a scathing rant, Stephen A. Smith criticizes Dak Prescott’s endorsement of Mike McCarthy.
Following the Dallas Cowboys’ humiliating home loss to the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round
on Sunday, pundits and NFL commentators of all stripes emerged from hiding on Monday morning to
lambast the team. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith was at the forefront of it all.
After the 48–32 loss, quarterback Dak Prescott backed coach Mike McCarthy, and the well-known
Cowboys nemesis had a sharp message for him. Prescott has stated that he believes in McCarthy, despite
the fact that the coach’s job security is once again under scrutiny following yet another poor season.
When Smith realized this, he used First Take to criticize Prescott for standing up for McCarthy, and he
gave the signal-caller some harsh advice.
“What Dak Prescott said about Mike McCarthy is irrelevant to us!” Smith stated on Monday morning. In
actuality, the reasons we ought to care about it should be the exact reverse! The more compelling reason
for his removal is the endorsement he received from Dak Prescott!
The Cowboys have only made it to the divisional stage once in the playoffs since McCarthy took over in
2020, even though they have finished with 12-win seasons three years in a row.
