A Single Amazing Factor Entirely Captures Cowboys Fans’ Epic Playoff Angst
The Dallas Cowboys haven’t lived up to the nickname “America’s Team” in a long time, and after yet
another dismal season that fell short of expectations, its supporters were left with that bitter reminder
once more. The Green Bay Packers and first-year starting quarterback Jordan Love humiliated the once-
feared team on Sunday, blowing them up 48–32. Although the Cowboys are no strangers to the
postseason, one statistic sums up the team’s awful 28-year playoff record in exquisite detail.
Following their victory on Sunday, the Packers now own three more postseason victories at AT&T
Stadium than the Cowboys do at their own stadium, which opened as Cowboys Stadium in 2009.
There, on February 6, 2011, Green Bay defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV. On January
15, 2016, the Packers triumphed 34–31 over the Cowboys in the divisional round.
Dallas’s three postseason wins there occurred in the wild-card round: against the Philadelphia Eagles on
Jan. 9, 2010, against the Detroit Lions on Jan. 4, 2015, and against the Seattle Seahawks on Jan. 5, 2019.
The Cowboys have been among the NFL’s worst postseason teams ever since winning Super Bowl XXX
following the 1995 season. Since defeating the Steelers for its most recent title on January 28, 1996,
Dallas is 5–13 in the playoffs. In the meanwhile, the Packers won Super Bowl XLV and went on to win 5–
0 at AT&T Stadium against the Cowboys on Sunday.
